Annual Sustainability Report to City Council
City ordinance requires the commission to report its activities to the City Council annually. The commission chose December 2 as its target, keeping the report brief with the detailed sustainable building report attached as an appendix.
Sustainable Building Standards and Building Department Coordination
The commission's building report concludes that most future sustainability gains must come from existing buildings, and members agreed the next step is coordinating with the city's Building Department in 2027 — possibly through a study session — to pick the right green building standards for Indio's priorities of affordability and fire resilience.
Monroe Street interchange project
The Monroe Street interchange is going out to bid in November, a long-awaited traffic relief project for residents who regularly travel to North Indio.
Utility users tax (Measure S) performance
The utility users tax collected $11.3 million, a bit better than the $11.1 million budgeted. It funds general city operations, and a detailed allocation report is coming later.
Growing capital projects list
Commissioners pressed staff on a capital projects list that keeps getting longer, asking how many projects actually get completed. Staff agreed to bring completion numbers back at the next meeting.
